Apply The 80/20 Rule Like a CEO

If you think like a CEO, you become brutally intentional with your time and energy.


Pareto’s law says: 80% of outcomes (or outputs) result from 20% of all causes (or inputs) for any given event. 


Here is how you can apply that to your life: 


80% of your stress is caused by 20% of the people in your life  Become mindful who you spend time with 


20% of all your habits and routines will contribute 80% of the improvement of your overall health  Pick those habits wisely and stick to them 


Concentrate 80% of your efforts on achieving the 20% of goals that will bring the most significant positive impact to your life  Check in quarterly to see where you are at with them 


80% of the time you eat the same 20% type the food   Simplify your shopping so your fridge is less of a chaos and you need to make less decisions


Invest 80% of your emotional energy in nurturing the 20% of relationships that truly matter to you   Remeber, quality over quantity


20% of your time creates 80% of the impact in your work   Identify what that 20% is every week and protect the time for it in your calendar 


80% of the time you wear 20% of your wardrobe (in each season)   Do a major cleanse so that you further simplify your morning decision-making 


Further streamline your decision-making process by identifying the 20% of choices that have an 80% impact on your quality of life  Stick to them like there’s no tomorrow


20% of your experiences will make up 80% of your best memories  Become intentional about what experiences you want to create for yourself and loved ones 




Focus on developing 20% of your skills that have the biggest impact on your work   This is a much better investment than working on all the random feedback you’ve been given
